Investigative Origins and Domestic Violence Reports

The criminal investigation into Fields began in 2024 after his pregnant wife, who was also a member of the service, reported multiple instances of abuse. She informed authorities that Fields had physically assaulted her by grabbing her neck during a domestic dispute and had previously made verbal threats against her life. Despite a military protection order issued by the Army Criminal Investigation Division, Fields reportedly violated the order on multiple occasions, leading to his placement in pretrial confinement in April 2025.

Sexual Assault of a Professional Colleague

As investigators looked into the domestic violence reports, they uncovered further allegations of sexual misconduct involving a co-worker. The victim in this instance was a colleague of Fields who reported being sexually assaulted during a party hosted at the soldier's residence in October 2024. Although Fields initially pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and communicating a threat related to this incident, the military judge ultimately found him guilty of both specifications following the court martial proceedings.

Identification of a Second Sexual Assault Victim

The Army statement noted that a second woman came forward during the investigation to report an assault that occurred in December 2024. The victim met Fields at a local establishment before the two went to her home, where the sexual assault took place. Fields entered a guilty plea for sexual assault and domestic violence charges as part of the legal agreement, which resulted in the dismissal of a separate domestic violence charge and one count of violating a protection order.
