Shortly after a specific incident of attempted rape, the victim had complained to her paternal grandmother about physical discomfort. The path to the courtroom began on October 18, 2024, when the victim, then a teenager, reached out to a teacher regarding overwhelming family stress and suicidal ideation. During a subsequent meeting with a school counsellor, she revealed the long-held secret of her father's actions. The victim explained that she only fully understood the nature of the abuse after attending sexuality education classes in primary school. Her decision to finally speak out was driven by a desire to move on with her life, despite her previous fears of seeing her father imprisoned.
