Law Enforcement Surveillance Leads to Connector Pursuit

The Bridgeport Police Department initiated a tactical operation on Thursday morning after an officer identified a suspect with an active felony warrant. Angel Montanez was observed operating a vehicle shortly before noon on the 25/8 Connector, traveling in a northbound direction. When the officer attempted to conduct a stop, the suspect reportedly refused to yield, triggering a pursuit that moved quickly from the highway into the neighboring municipality of Trumbull. The chase ended when Montanez abandoned his vehicle and attempted to evade capture by fleeing into a wooded area on foot.

Strategic Apprehension in Trumbull Residential Zone

The flight from authorities concluded in a residential area near the border of Trumbull and Monroe. Following a brief search of the surrounding woods, officers were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody without further incident. The successful apprehension was the result of a coordinated response to prevent the suspect from further eluding the justice system. Following his capture, Montanez was processed for his existing warrants as well as new charges related to his attempt to escape the police during the midday encounter.

Serious Felony Allegations Involve Multiple Victims

The foundational charges against Montanez involve a series of alleged violent encounters that took place on April 19, 20, and 22. According to court records, the 24 year old is accused of numerous domestic violence assaults involving multiple victims. The specific nature of the felony warrant includes three separate counts of violating a protective order, indicating a repeated defiance of judicial mandates intended to safeguard the victims. These incidents culminated in a police investigation that identified Montanez as a significant risk to the individuals involved in the reported disputes.
