Double Collision Impacts SH14
The first incident occurred at approximately 2:40 pm on Thursday near Tangiteroria. Police describe it as a serious single-vehicle crash with initial reports indicating severe injuries to those involved. Shortly after, a second two-vehicle collision was reported further along the highway in Maunu. While the injuries in the second crash appear to be minor, the combination of the two incidents has brought traffic in the region to a standstill.
Road Closures and Traffic Diversions
State Highway 14 is currently closed between Bob Taylor Road and Otuhi Road. New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) and Police have warned of major delays affecting the corridor between Whangārei and Dargaville. There is currently no estimated time for the reopening of the road, as the Serious Crash Unit is required to conduct a scene examination for the Tangiteroria incident.
