The Violence at Broad and Packer

The initial shooting occurred on October 9, 2025, near the prominent intersection of Broad Street and Packer Avenue. According to police reports, two 23-year-old men were inside a vehicle when they were targeted by gunfire. Investigators believe that Keita fired upon the occupants and then continued driving, eventually turning onto southbound Broad Street where he collided with a parked vehicle. The geographic proximity to a popular local establishment brought immediate public attention and a swift law enforcement response to the South Philadelphia neighborhood.

Casualties and Immediate Medical Response

The shooting resulted in the death of 23-year-old Hasson Mason, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the attack. Mason was rushed by emergency responders to a nearby hospital, but he was later pronounced dead. A second 23-year-old victim was also shot multiple times in the torso. Witnesses at the scene reported that this individual sought refuge at Chickie's & Pete's to ask for help before being transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
