A Violent Confrontation on West Wingohocking Street

The Philadelphia Police Department has launched a homicide investigation following a domestic dispute that turned lethal on Saturday night. Emergency dispatchers received reports of a person armed with a weapon on the 600 block of West Wingohocking Street at approximately 11:34 p.m. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered Kevin Jenkins, 61, collapsed on the front porch of the property. The victim had sustained multiple traumatic stab wounds to his neck and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Medical Intervention and Pronouncement of Death

Despite the efforts of emergency medical personnel and hospital trauma teams, the injuries proved fatal. Kevin Jenkins was pronounced dead at 12:11 a.m. on Sunday morning, shortly after his arrival at the medical facility. The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct a formal autopsy to document the extent of the injuries as part of the ongoing criminal prosecution.

Apprehension of the Suspect and Evidence Recovery

Police officers at the scene quickly shifted their focus to the interior of the residence, where they located 28 year old Devin Jenkins. The suspect, identified as the son of the victim, was taken into custody without further incident. Prior to being processed, Devin Jenkins was transported to a hospital to receive treatment for a minor laceration on his left index finger, an injury investigators believe may have been sustained during the fatal struggle.
