While the victims were quickly transported to a local medical facility for emergency treatment, one woman succumbed to her gunshot wounds shortly after arrival. The victim was traveling with a group of youths between Baten village and Du’a village when they were ambushed by armed men at approximately 8:15 p.m. While other members of the group managed to survive the encounter, Monday was fatally targeted during the brief but deadly confrontation.
