Strategic Ambush Dismantles Terrorist Transit Route
The Nigerian Army’s Operation Enduring Peace launched a decisive strike against armed groups in Plateau State under the offensive codenamed Operation WUTAN DAJI. On the morning of April 9, 2026, security forces established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest to intercept criminal movement. According to Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, troops sighted a large group of terrorists traveling on motorcycles along a known transit route. The military engaged the group with a superior volume of fire, leading to a significant tactical victory in the Daba and Seri village axis.
Superior Firepower Overwhelms Armed Resistance
The encounter resulted in the neutralization of ten terrorists after a period of initial resistance from the armed group. Despite attempts to repel the military advance, the insurgents were overwhelmed by well, coordinated maneuvers, forcing the survivors to flee into the dense surrounding forest. Security forces reported that the fleeing criminals left behind a trail of casualties, indicating a severe blow to their localized operational strength. The engagement is being characterized by military leadership as a vital step in degrading the capacity of armed groups within the Kanam and Wase regions.
Offensive Response to Commuter Attacks
In a separate but related development, the Army initiated a swift pursuit following reports of an isolated attack on commuters along the road connecting Razat and Kafi Abu. Gallant troops immediately targeted the criminal elements responsible for the disturbance, pushing them back into the hinterlands. To ensure the restoration of peace and security for travelers, the military conducted rigorous cordon and search operations across Suma Suga and Takwok villages. These tactical efforts were extended into the adjacent mountainous terrain to flush out hidden pockets of resistance.
