Precision Raid Neutralizes Maganda Robbery Syndicate
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Jomvu, supported by officers from Mikindani Police Station, have successfully dismantled a criminal cell linked to a March 14 robbery in Maganda. The breakthrough followed a "hot tip-off" that led authorities to the Bangladesh area of Mombasa, targeting 49-year-old Pius Okech Ondijo. Known in criminal circles as Pius Philemon Ondicho, the prime suspect attempted to evade capture upon the arrival of security forces but was apprehended after a brief pursuit, marking the beginning of a larger recovery operation.
Ceiling Hideout Yields Stolen State Weaponry
The investigation escalated as the primary suspect guided detectives to a second hideout in the Narcol area. Upon arrival at a residence belonging to an accomplice, officers discovered a suspect identified as Nicholus Oluoch Okoth hiding within the ceiling structure. A subsequent search of the premises revealed an AK-47 assault rifle, identified by Serial No. 5426917, which had been previously stolen from a police officer in Mombasa. The weapon was found cleverly concealed inside a sack alongside a magazine containing 30 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Collaborative Policing Leads to Multiple Arrests
The operation resulted in the detention of three key individuals: Pius Okech Ondijo, Kellars Wanyonyi, and Nicholus Oluoch Okoth. DCI officials characterized the recovery of the high-caliber firearm as a startling but critical success in restoring local security. By leveraging community intelligence and inter-departmental cooperation, the sleuths were able to track the suspects from the initial crime scene in Maganda to their various safe houses, effectively removing a dangerous state-issued weapon from the hands of the underworld.
