Coordinated Raid Yields Stolen State Weaponry
A high stakes security operation in Kajiado North has led to the recovery of a government issued firearm that had been previously stolen from a police officer. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, working alongside officers from the Ngong Police Station, executed a targeted raid in the Kware and Mandazi Road areas of Rongai. The operation focused on two primary suspects, identified as Cyrus Mureithi Mburu and Peter Kangethe, following intelligence reports that linked them to the possession of a weapon belonging to the Security of Government Buildings unit.
Search Operations and Evidence Recovery in Rongai
During a thorough search of the residence belonging to Mburu, investigators discovered a magazine loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a container of gun oil. The scale of the discovery widened significantly when detectives located a Ceska pistol, specifically identified by its serial number F9418. Local security officials confirmed that this particular weapon had been taken from a police officer under circumstances that remain a subject of investigation. The recovery of live ammunition alongside the pistol suggests the suspects may have been maintaining the hardware for active use in criminal ventures.
Seizure of Tactical Gear and Imitation Firearms
The scope of the raid extended beyond functional weaponry, revealing a collection of tools often associated with organized robbery. Officers seized two imitation firearms, a pair of handcuffs, and a Maasai sword from the premises. Additionally, a set of keys was recovered and secured as part of the evidence trail. The presence of police grade equipment, such as handcuffs and the stolen pistol, has raised concerns about the potential for the suspects to impersonate law enforcement officers during the commission of crimes in the Kajiado and Nairobi environs.
