Daylight Ambush on Beechmont Street

The Memphis Police Department (MPD) is requesting public assistance to identify a man involved in a violent encounter that occurred last Wednesday afternoon. According to investigators, the incident began around 3:30 p.m. at a residence on Beechmont Street, near North Watkins Street. A victim, who was performing construction work at the home at the time, was approached by an unidentified male who produced a firearm and demanded money. When the victim could not immediately provide cash, the situation escalated into a kidnapping.

Kidnapping and Forced Financial Transaction

The suspect reportedly forced the victim at gunpoint into a vehicle and ordered him to drive to a nearby ATM. Under the threat of violence, the victim was compelled to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash. After the transaction was completed, the suspect directed the victim to drive to the area of Driftwood Avenue, also near North Watkins Street. Upon arriving at that location, the suspect exited the vehicle, taking the newly withdrawn cash, additional personal property belonging to the victim, and even the victim's bicycle.

Visual Evidence and Suspect Description

MPD detectives have reviewed footage from nearby pole cameras, which captured the suspect initially arriving in the area on a bicycle before the confrontation took place. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 36 years old. At the time of the robbery and kidnapping, he was notably wearing a yellow raincoat. While the pole camera footage provided a general timeline of the suspect's movements, police are hoping that witnesses or residents with private security systems in the North Watkins area may have clearer images of the individual.
