According to reports from the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident began at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in the 2700 block of Marion Barry Avenue, Southeast. The victim was standing near her vehicle when the suspect approached her under the guise of asking for a lighter.
