According to reports from the Chicago Police Department, the shooting occurred just before 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Authorities discovered the victim sitting inside a car in the 4700 block of West Arthington Street. The man had sustained a life threatening gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics arrived on the scene within minutes to provide emergency medical intervention.

Hospital Transport and Pronouncement

The victim was transported via ambulance to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of the medical trauma team, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the victim's name, pending the notification of his next of kin. This incident marks another act of gun violence in the city’s West Side this month.
