The victim, a 42-year-old male, was struck once in the left leg during the height of the morning rush.

A Near Collision Sparks Physical Dispute

The altercation reportedly began when a black Chevrolet Malibu, bearing Indiana license plates, nearly struck the pedestrian while he was utilizing a designated crosswalk. According to police records, the 42-year-old man responded to the close encounter by kicking the vehicle. This action immediately triggered a volatile reaction from the driver, who abruptly halted his car and exited the vehicle to confront the man on foot.

Escalation from Verbal Threats to Gunfire

Witness accounts and police documentation indicate that the driver engaged in a brief but intense pursuit of the pedestrian. According to police reports, the suspect screamed death threats, specifically stating he was going to kill the man, while chasing him down the sidewalk. The pursuit ended moments later when the driver produced a firearm and discharged a round into the victim's leg before fleeing the scene in the Chevrolet Malibu.
