Apprehension Following Northwest Side Gun Violence
A significant development in a week-long criminal investigation occurred Tuesday when Chicago police arrested 27-year-old Isathia Perez. Officers took Perez into custody in the 4700 block of West Division Street, located in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood. The arrest follows an intensive search for the individual responsible for a targeted shooting that occurred earlier this month on the city's Northwest Side, marking a pivotal moment for local law enforcement in their efforts to address violent crime.
The Midnight Ambush on West Irving Park Road
The charges against Perez stem from an incident that took place in the early morning hours of April 12. According to police reports, at approximately 2:47 a.m., three men were standing outdoors in the 2900 block of West Irving Park Road. Authorities allege that Perez opened fire on the group from a distance, unleashing a volley of shots that struck all three individuals. The timing and nature of the assault suggest a deliberate act of violence, although the specific motivations behind the gunfire have not yet been disclosed by investigators.
Medical Status of the Victims Following the Strike
The gunfire resulted in varying degrees of injury among the three men targeted in the attack. A 37-year-old victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was rushed to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition. Two other men, ages 31 and 38, sustained leg wounds and were transported to St. Francis Hospital and Illinois Masonic Hospital, respectively. Both were reported to be in fair condition, highlighting the lethal potential of the encounter which nearly claimed a life.
