Dual Jurisdiction Charges In Fatal Shooting Case
Johna Robinson has been charged with murder in Harris County’s 176th Criminal District Court in connection with the February killing of Terribia Dembry. While the initial investigation focused on the local homicide, the case has expanded into the federal system. Robinson now faces additional federal charges for the possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and the unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. These federal counts were unsealed following a coordinated effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to address both the violent crime and underlying narcotics activity.
Evidence Linkage And Tactical Apprehension
The Houston Police Department initially responded to a call on February 24 at an apartment complex on Grant Road, where they discovered the 52,year,old victim with multiple gunshot wounds. According to federal court documents, investigators utilized vehicle records to associate Robinson with the scene of the crime. During a subsequent surveillance operation at a nearby residence, authorities observed Robinson committing a traffic violation and conducted a stop. During this interaction, law enforcement allegedly recovered a loaded .38,caliber revolver concealed in Robinson’s waistband.
Prior Convictions And Firearm Restrictions
The federal firearm charge is predicated on Robinson's extensive criminal history, which includes prior drug distribution convictions in both the Northern District of Florida and the Southern District of Texas. Under federal law, these felony convictions permanently prohibit him from possessing any firearm or ammunition. The unsealed criminal complaint emphasizes that Robinson was aware of these restrictions at the time of the shooting, making the discovery of the loaded revolver a significant factor in the escalating federal involvement in the case.
