Richard Wills was last seen alive on the morning of Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. His routine appeared normal until he failed to return home for a scheduled lunch.

8:00 am, Easter Sunday: Mr. Wills leaves his Hughs St home in Ouyen to work on his property off the Mallee Highway.

Easter Monday: Family reports him missing to local police after he fails to return home or make contact.

1:30 pm, Tuesday: During an assisted search of his rural acreage, police discover Mr. Wills' body buried in a shallow grave.

Detectives from the Victoria Police Missing Persons Squad and Homicide Squad have taken over the investigation. Senior Sergeant Steve Trewavas stated that while the cause of death—a gunshot wound—is certain, the "who and why" remain a mystery.
