Assault and Theft During Weekend Unrest

Washington D.C. authorities are investigating a targeted robbery that took place amid broader disorderly activity in the Navy Yard neighborhood last weekend. According to investigators from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), the incident occurred on Saturday, March 14, at approximately 9:12 PM. The victim, identified as a juvenile, was approached by a group of suspects in the 1200 block of First Street, Southeast, where the confrontation quickly turned physical.

Forcible Removal of Property

Witnesses and police reports indicate that multiple suspects surrounded the juvenile and began an assault. During the struggle, the group forcibly removed the victim’s jacket and shoes. Despite the physical nature of the encounter, MPD officials confirmed that the juvenile was not seriously injured. Following the theft, the group fled the area on foot, disappearing into the crowds associated with the night's localized unrest.

Identification of the Suspect

In an effort to generate leads, the MPD has released a surveillance photograph of one of the primary suspects. The image, captured by nearby security cameras, shows an individual believed to be directly involved in the assault. While the other participants have not yet been clearly identified, detectives are reviewing additional footage from the Navy Yard corridor to track the group's movements before and after the robbery.
