Aggressive Driving Escalates into Interstate Violence
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has apprehended a suspect following a weekend shooting that occurred during a period of heavy traffic on I-485 Inner. According to official reports, the incident was triggered on Saturday afternoon near the South Boulevard exit when a driver identified as Carson Bradford Parker allegedly merged into traffic abruptly. The victims, operating a 2025 Chevrolet Trax, were forced to decelerate rapidly and utilized their horn to prevent a high-speed collision, a move that reportedly served as the catalyst for the ensuing violence.
Systematic Intimidation Reported Prior to Discharge of Weapon
A criminal affidavit filed in Mecklenburg County details a harrowing sequence of events where the suspect allegedly used his vehicle as a tool for intimidation. After the initial near-miss, Parker is accused of slowing his vehicle multiple times to stay alongside the victims. During these maneuvers, witnesses claim he pointed a firearm at the occupants of the SUV on at least two separate occasions. This predatory behavior culminated in the suspect allegedly firing a single round into the driver’s side of the victims' vehicle while both cars were still in motion.
Critical Evidence Provided by Targeted Motorists
Despite the shock of the assault, the man and woman inside the targeted SUV managed to maintain control of their vehicle and record vital identifying information. Their ability to secure Parker’s license plate number and a detailed description of his car proved instrumental for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives assigned to the case. This immediate reporting allowed the judicial system to issue a warrant on the same day as the shooting, significantly narrowing the window for the suspect to remain at large in the community.
