A Major Financial Commitment to Retirees

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has authorized the disbursement of N5 billion for the sixth batch of gratuities and death benefits in Kano State. This substantial financial injection is designed to settle long-standing obligations to former civil servants and the families of deceased workers. The administration’s focus on clearing these arrears has been characterized as a fulfillment of leadership responsibilities, providing immediate economic relief to thousands of households that have struggled with financial hardship during their retirement.

Political Alignment and Re-election Endorsements

The event served as a significant moment of political realignment, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, expressed deep appreciation for the Governor’s performance. Prof. Yilwatda insisted that Governor Yusuf’s record reflects that of a leader who should be allowed to continue his work beyond the current term. In a notable display of party unity, the Chairman assured the Governor of full support for his re-election, while Governor Yusuf reciprocated by pledging to work tirelessly for the return of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

Investiture of the MINILS Fellowship

In recognition of his administration’s labour-friendly policies, the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) conferred its prestigious Fellowship upon Governor Yusuf. The Director-General of the institute, Comrade Issa Aremu, reiterated that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its affiliate unions have taken note of the Governor’s commitment to worker welfare. Aremu suggested that the civil servants and pensioners of Kano State are likely to reciprocate these policies during the 2027 general elections, effectively positioning the Governor as a key ally of the organized labor movement.
