Operation Zero Black Spots Strikes in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its ongoing effort to purge the state of criminal hubs. On Sunday, March 15, 2026, at approximately 9:00 pm, police operatives acted on credible intelligence to storm a residence on Idem Street, off Itu Road in Uyo. The raid was part of "Operation Zero Black Spots," a strategic initiative designed to dismantle drug networks and illegal arms manufacturing centers across the state.

Weapons Fabrication and Modification

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, revealed on Monday that the facility served as a secret workshop for the illegal fabrication and modification of firearms. According to police reports, one of the suspects confessed to "cutting long guns into shorter, concealable weapons."

During the search, the following items were recovered:

Machinery: Filing, cutting, and drilling machines, assorted saws, and cutting stones.
