Targeted Strike Against Urban Criminal Networks

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has executed a strategic raid on a criminal hideout in the Ibesikpo Asutan local government area, effectively disrupting a major node for illicit drug transactions. According to command spokesperson DSP Timfon John, the operation was initiated following the receipt of credible intelligence regarding unlawful activities within the community. This move represents a significant escalation in the regional effort to stabilize areas previously identified as high risk for narcotics distribution and gang related violence.

Apprehension of Key Neighborhood Threats

Beyond the raid in Ibesikpo Asutan, operatives successfully apprehended Ofonime Tom, identified as a suspected member of a notorious gang that has been terrorizing residents of Michael Abraham and Nkemba Streets. This particular suspect is believed to be a central figure in the criminal activity affecting Ikot Ebido Oku and its surrounding neighborhoods. The arrest of Tom is viewed as a critical step in restoring order to these residential corridors, which have long reported frequent harassment by organized gangs.

Inventory of Recovered Exhibits and Narcotics

During the search of the raided premises, police recovered a variety of items used to facilitate criminal operations. The haul included significant quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, two kitchen knives, and two pairs of scissors, alongside multiple mobile phones and a lighter. Additionally, investigators seized a cash sum of 28,000 Naira and a black bag used by the suspects. These exhibits are being treated as primary evidence in the ongoing investigation into the network’s supply chain.
