Chicago police units were dispatched to the 7700 block of South Cornell Avenue at approximately 4:15 a.m. following reports of a physical altercation between two women. According to preliminary investigators, the dispute turned violent when one of the participants produced a sharp object and repeatedly struck the other, resulting in significant blood loss and trauma.
Emergency Medical Intervention at University of Chicago Hospital
The victim, a 60 year old woman, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to the University of Chicago Hospital. Medical staff classified her condition as critical due to the severity of the lacerations found on both of her legs. No other individuals inside the home reported injuries, and the site was secured by patrol officers to allow for a comprehensive forensic sweep of the interior where the struggle occurred.
