The shooting took place in the 5500 block of West Corcoran Place at approximately 10:20 a.m. Chicago Police reported that the teenager was walking when a male offender approached him and produced a handgun. After demanding the victim's personal property, the assailant discharged the weapon, striking the 17-year-old in the leg. Officers arrived shortly after the 911 call and secured the area, while paramedics provided immediate medical attention.

Medical Status and Hospitalization

The victim was transported to West Suburban Medical Center for treatment of the gunshot wound. Hospital officials and police have confirmed that the teenager is in stable condition. Fortunately, the injury is not considered life-threatening, though the psychological impact of the violent encounter remains a concern for the victim and his family. The teenager's identity has not been released due to his status as a minor.
