A Milestone in Regional Diplomacy
Minister Murwira revealed during a post-Cabinet briefing that the African Union's formal endorsement is a decisive achievement for Zimbabwe's candidacy. This regional backing is considered critical, as bloc endorsements often determine the success of rotating seats within the Security Council. Beyond the continent, the country has also secured bilateral support agreements with over 80 additional nations, bringing the projected total to more than 130 supporting countries.
The "Friend to All" Strategy
The campaign is anchored in a foreign policy doctrine described as being a "friend to all and an enemy to none". Zimbabwe’s bid emphasizes several key pillars of international cooperation:
Global Peace and Security: A commitment to multilateralism and regional peace-building initiatives.
Economic Cooperation: Promoting international trade and scientific collaboration.
