Targeted Drone Strikes at the Musayyib Intersection
A precision airstrike conducted on Wednesday afternoon targeted a Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) base located at the strategic intersection of Musayyib and Jurf al-Sakhar in Babil governorate. According to preliminary field reports and video evidence obtained by 964media, the attack resulted in the deaths of two PMF fighters and left several others with varying degrees of injury. Footage captured shortly before the impact showed a drone loitering over the Musayyib district, suggesting a period of surveillance prior to the engagement. The wounded were immediately evacuated to Musayyib Hospital, as security forces cordoned off the intersection to assess the damage to the military installation.
Fatal Collateral Damage in Wasit Governorate
The strike in Babil followed an earlier morning attack on a PMF facility in the Suwayra district of Wasit governorate. This specific base reportedly houses members of Asaib Ahl al-Haq and contains significant ammunition storage units. Security and health officials told AFP that the bombardment of these depots caused secondary explosions, sending shrapnel into nearby residential areas. A local woman was killed when a fragment struck her home, while her son sustained life-threatening injuries. Multiple PMF members were also wounded in the blast, which decimated the storage site and raised urgent concerns regarding the proximity of specialized military depots to civilian populations.
Systematic Degradation of Iran Aligned Assets
Since the regional conflict erupted on February 28, a systematic aerial campaign has targeted the infrastructure of Iran-aligned armed groups throughout Iraq. On Tuesday, a high-casualty strike hit a Kataib Imam Ali position in the Dibis district of Kirkuk, leaving five fighters dead and over ten wounded. This was preceded by Monday night operations against the PMF’s 51st Brigade north of Baiji in Salah al-Din. Military analysts suggest that the frequency and geographic spread of these attacks indicate a coordinated effort to degrade the logistics, weaponry, and command structures of these groups across the northern and central corridors of the country.
