The Inter State High Speed Pursuit

What began as a targeted surveillance operation by Vicksburg authorities rapidly escalated into a dangerous inter state pursuit on the afternoon of April 1. According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, the chase ignited on East Clay Street just outside Vicksburg city limits before the suspects transitioned onto I-20 westbound. Law enforcement officials reported that the getaway vehicle, a black Dodge Challenger, maintained speeds exceeding 140 mph as it crossed the state line into Louisiana. This high velocity flight forced multiple agencies to coordinate in real time to manage the significant risks posed to public safety on the heavily traveled interstate corridor.

Tactical Conclusion At The Delta Levee

The pursuit reached its physical limit on First Street in Delta, Louisiana, a location chosen poorly by the suspects as it resulted in a dead end near the Mississippi River levee. Sheriff Martin Pace noted that once the vehicle was forced to a halt, the occupants attempted to flee on foot into the surrounding area. The escape attempt was short lived, as a coordinated search effort quickly narrowed the perimeter. McCroy eventually surrendered to authorities after a family member established contact with him, acting as a mediator to convince the suspect to call the sheriff’s office and end the standoff peacefully.

Identification Of The Suspects And Accomplices

While Rashad McCroy was the primary target due to his active murder warrant, two other individuals were taken into custody and face significant charges for their roles in the flight. The driver of the Challenger was identified as 21 year old Jaleel Fleming of Natchez, who now faces felony flight and various narcotics violations. Additionally, 19 year old Keyonica Hatchett of Vicksburg was charged as a principal to flight. Sheriff Pace confirmed that Fleming was armed at the time of the arrest, adding an additional layer of danger to the high speed encounter and subsequent foot chase.
