Federal Delegation Conducts Emergency Visit to Blast Survivors

Vice President Kashim Shettima led a high level federal delegation to Maiduguri on Wednesday to personally commiserate with victims of the devastating triple suicide bombings that occurred earlier this week. Accompanied by Zubaida Umar, the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, the Vice President toured the Trauma Centre at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. The visit aimed to provide moral support to the injured and offer condolences to the families of those killed in the coordinated strikes that targeted high traffic civilian areas including the Post Office and Monday Market.

Government Pledges Relentless Pursuit of Regional Sanity

During his address to newsmen following the hospital visit, Shettima emphasized the administration's unwavering commitment to restoring peace in the North East. He stated that the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not rest until security is fully established throughout the country. The Vice President described the attacks as a tragedy, noting that no religious doctrine sanctions the killing of innocent civilians. According to Shettima, the federal government views the continued insurgency as a madness that must be eradicated to allow the region to move forward.

Mobilization of Medical and Relief Resources

The Vice President announced that immediate material support is being deployed to assist those affected by the explosions. According to his statement, NEMA is scheduled to begin the distribution of essential medical consumables and various relief items starting Thursday. This effort is being coordinated alongside the North East Development Commission and the Borno State government to ensure that the aid reaches the families of the victims directly. Shettima praised the NEMA Director-General for her hands on approach in providing succor to the displaced and injured during this critical period.
