Fugitive Located in Avondale Residence
A nearly year-long search for a shooting suspect ended Thursday afternoon when federal authorities tracked him to a neighboring community. The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) announced that U.S. Marshals successfully located 38-year-old John Brennan at a property on Leslie Street in Avondale. Upon identifying Brennan’s location, Marshals established a perimeter and surrounded the building, initiating a high-stakes standoff to secure the suspect without further violence.
Surrender and Arrest Following Standoff
Federal agents utilized loud-hailer commands to order Brennan to exit the residence. According to police reports, the operation reached a conclusion at approximately 5:30 p.m. when Brennan complied with the directives and emerged from the home. He was taken into custody without incident. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in a case that had remained open since the early summer of 2025, as local detectives worked with federal partners to pinpoint Brennan's whereabouts.
The June 2025 Kara Court Shooting
Brennan was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant stemming from a violent incident on June 29, 2025. Officers had originally responded to a shooting in the vicinity of Kara Court in Pueblo, where evidence linked Brennan to the crime. While the specific details regarding the victim's condition or the motive behind the 2025 shooting have not been re-released, the PPD had designated the case a priority for their fugitive apprehension teams. Brennan is now facing charges related to that initial felony warrant.
