Attack on the Kirishi Industrial Hub
Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed via Telegram that Russian air defenses shot down more than 20 drones over the region. While officials claimed the attack was "repelled," Drozdenko acknowledged that damage was sustained within the industrial zone. Although the specific facility was not named, the district is dominated by Surgutneftegaz's (SNGS.MM) Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery. This plant is a critical pillar of the Russian energy sector, processing approximately 17.5 million metric tons of oil annually—accounting for roughly 6.6% of Russia's total refining volume.
Strategic Context: Paralysis of Russian Exports
The strike occurs as Russia’s energy export capabilities face an unprecedented crisis. Recent data suggests that at least 40% of Russia's oil export capacity is currently at a standstill. This paralysis is the result of a coordinated "triple threat":
Drone Warfare: Sustained aerial attacks on inland refineries.
Logistical Disruptions: Disputed attacks on major pipeline networks.
