Russian forces launched one of the most significant combined aerial operations of the 2026 conflict on the night of March 14, deploying a massive arsenal of land, sea, and air-based munitions. The Ukrainian Air Force detected 498 distinct airborne targets, including 430 attack UAVs and a sophisticated mix of ballistic and cruise missiles. This coordinated assault, which began on the evening of March 13, aimed to overwhelm national defense systems by saturating the airspace with various drone types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas models, launched from ten separate directions across the Russian Federation and occupied Crimea.

Preliminary data indicates the destruction of one Tsirkon anti-ship hypersonic missile and seven Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, which are notoriously difficult to intercept. Additionally, the Air Force reported the successful downing of 25 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black and Caspian Seas, alongside 24 X-101 cruise missiles.
