A Sudden Loss On The Road To Political Engagement
The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress is in mourning following a catastrophic road accident that claimed the lives of three of its dedicated youth leaders. The victims, identified as Hon. Anawo Benjamin, Hon. Ogbe Enemari, and Hon. Abraham Enenche, were traveling from Ogbadibo to attend the party’s North Central Zonal Congress in Lafia. According to eyewitness accounts and party statements, the fatal crash occurred along the notorious Makurdi–Lafia road, a major transit artery, as the officials were performing their official duties for the party.
Identification Of The Deceased Grassroots Officials
The loss has struck the Ogbadibo Local Government Area with particular severity, as all three victims represented different wards within the same constituency. Hon. Benjamin served Orokam Ward 3, while Hon. Enemari and Hon. Enenche represented Ai-oono Ward 3 and Olachagbaha Ward, respectively. These individuals were regarded as the backbone of the party’s youth mobilization efforts in Benue South. While the three leaders died at the scene, the remainder of the delegation sustained varying degrees of injuries and is currently receiving emergency medical attention in nearby facilities.
Tributes To Committed Political Servants
Comrade Daniel Onjeh, the 2023 APC Benue South Senatorial candidate, described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy for the entire state. He noted that the deceased were not just political figures but committed grassroots organizers whose loyalty had been instrumental in the party's recent growth. Onjeh emphasized that their dedication to the APC mission was evident in their willingness to travel long distances to represent their wards at the zonal level, a commitment that ultimately led to this tragic conclusion.
