The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has officially confirmed the deaths of two individuals following a severe road accident on Tuesday. The victims, identified as 48 year old Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa and his mother, 73 year old Hajiya Hadiza Garba, were natives of Walawa village in the Kabo Local Government Area. According to emergency responders and board officials, the collision occurred along the Rimin Gado road as the pair was making their way toward the city of Kano. Both victims reportedly died on the spot due to the impact of the crash.

Families Mourn the Sudden Departure of Loved Ones

Family sources have expressed profound shock over the incident, noting the significant void left by the deceased. Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa is survived by two wives and seven children, while his mother, Hajiya Hadiza, leaves behind five children. The family was reportedly preparing for the spiritual journey of a lifetime, as both victims were scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage. The suddenness of the accident has cast a shadow over their community, which had been celebrating their selection for the sacred trip.

In a statement released by the board's spokesperson, Alhaji Suleiman A. Dederi, the organization expressed deep sadness over the loss of the intending pilgrims. The board described the event as "deeply painful," emphasizing that the victims were in the process of fulfilling a holy obligation. The official message offered prayers for the forgiveness of the deceased and their admission into Aljannatul Firdaus (Paradise), while calling for the families to be granted the resilience needed to endure such an "irreparable loss."
