The victims, identified as 48 year old Alkasim Ibrahim-Walawa and his 73 year old mother, Hadiza Garba, were involved in a fatal auto crash while traveling within the state. The accident occurred on Tuesday along the Rimin Gado axis as the mother and son were making final logistical arrangements for their departure to Saudi Arabia. According to a statement released by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi, the nature of the crash was particularly devastating given the spiritual significance of the journey the victims were about to undertake. Emergency services confirmed the fatalities at the scene, noting that the victims were focused on fulfilling one of the core pillars of their faith at the time of the tragedy.
