Arrest Made In Thornton Daycare Sexual Assault Investigation

An 81 year old resident of Thornton has been formally charged following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse at a local home based childcare facility. David Preston Chambers is accused of two counts of sexual assault on a child. The incidents reportedly took place at Vickey’s Daycare, located in the 4200 block of East 114th Avenue, throughout the year 2025. The arrest has prompted a broader look into the history of the facility and the safety of children who were previously enrolled there.

Suspect Connected To Long Running Licensed Childcare Business

Chambers is the husband of a licensed home daycare provider who managed the business for over four decades. While the daycare is currently closed, it operated at several different locations throughout Thornton during its 40 year tenure. Because of the longevity of the business and Chambers' presence at these locations, the Thornton Police Department is treating the case with a high level of urgency to determine if these reported assaults were isolated incidents or part of a longer pattern of behavior.

Police Establish Dedicated Tip Line For Potential Victims

Detectives believe that the current charges may represent only a portion of the total number of victims. In a news release issued on Thursday, the Thornton Police Department urged anyone who may have had a child at Vickey’s Daycare or who has information relevant to the case to come forward. A dedicated tip line has been established at 720-977-5069 to allow parents and former students to provide information to investigators.
