Strategic Interception at the Roma International Bridge

Federal officers at the Roma Port of Entry successfully dismantled a significant narcotics smuggling attempt involving a 22 year old U.S. citizen. On March 8, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers selected a 2013 Ford Explorer for a secondary inspection upon its arrival at the Roma International Bridge. Through the integration of non, intrusive scanning technology and physical examination, personnel discovered 53 individual packages concealed within the vehicle. The packages contained approximately 121.34 pounds of methamphetamine, a haul estimated to have a street value exceeding 1 million dollars.

Federal Response and Investigative Oversight

Following the discovery at the bridge, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents assumed custody of the unidentified driver. Port Director Andres Guerra characterized the seizure as a testament to the specialized training and technological resources utilized by frontline officers to secure the border. The vehicle and the narcotics were seized as federal property while the criminal investigation remains active. This operation underscores the ongoing federal commitment to preventing large, scale drug loads from infiltrating domestic communities through international transit points.

Operation Lone Star Commercial Vehicle Inspection

In a separate but massive enforcement action, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers intercepted nearly 2,000 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop on U.S. 281. The interdiction occurred on March 4 near George West as part of the broader Operation Lone Star initiative. A blue 2020 Kenworth semi, trailer was pulled over for a traffic violation, at which point the responding trooper identified indicators of criminal activity. The subsequent deployment of a Live Oak County Sheriff’s Office K,9 unit provided a positive alert, prompting a comprehensive search of the commercial vehicle.
