Escalation in a Public Shopping Center
New legal documents have shed light on the harrowing details of an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday morning at the Publix on North Kings Highway. According to Myrtle Beach police reports, the incident began around 11:15 a.m. when victims returned to their vehicle after shopping to find it had been unlawfully entered and searched. As the victims assessed the scene, they were suddenly confronted by two armed individuals who emerged with weapons drawn, transforming a vehicle burglary into a high stakes armed confrontation in a busy commercial area.
Physical Intimidation and Theft
The suspects, later identified as Antwon Leflore Jr. and a juvenile accomplice, allegedly used extreme physical intimidation to subdue the victims. Arrest records indicate that Leflore placed a firearm directly against the leg of one victim while the pair conducted a forced pat down. During the encounter, the assailants successfully seized 320 dollars in cash before fleeing the scene on foot. This level of direct physical contact and proximity has led to severe enhanced charges for both individuals as investigators cataloged the aggressive nature of the theft.
Extended Manhunt and Neighborhood Alerts
The robbery triggered a significant law enforcement response and an hours long search for the older suspect. While police managed to apprehend the unnamed minor shortly after the incident at a residence on 62nd Avenue North, Leflore remained at large for most of the afternoon. Authorities issued public alerts urging residents to remain vigilant and review private security footage recorded between the late morning and early evening hours. The search concluded around 6:00 p.m. when officers successfully located and arrested Leflore at a location on North Oak Street.
