Surrender in Southeast Ohio

The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the arrest of a man wanted in connection with a high profile double homicide in northeast Ohio. Brandon Casto, identified as the primary suspect in a weekend shooting in Akron, reportedly drove several hours south to Meigs County following the incident. According to official statements, the Akron Police Department alerted Meigs County 911 on Monday regarding the suspect's potential location. Shortly thereafter, Casto arrived at the Sheriff’s Office and turned himself in to awaiting deputies.

Details of the Akron Incident

The arrest stems from a violent encounter that took place late Saturday night in the city of Akron. Local authorities there reported that the shooting claimed the lives of two victims: a woman and her twelve year old son. While investigators have not yet publicly discussed a potential motive for the attack, the severity of the crimes prompted an immediate regional alert. Akron detectives spent the weekend processing the scene and tracing Casto's movements as he fled the metropolitan area.

Inter-Agency Coordination and Detention

The successful apprehension of Casto was the result of direct communication between municipal and county law enforcement agencies. Once Meigs County officials received the notification from Akron, deputies were placed on high alert. Following his surrender, Casto was processed and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. He is currently being held there pending an extradition hearing that will return him to Summit County to face formal charges related to the double homicide.
