Allegations of Systematic Misappropriation

Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, has leveled serious accusations against the federal government regarding the handling of the nation’s finances. Speaking to supporters in a viral social media clip, the lawmaker asserted that the budgets passed for the last three consecutive years exist only on paper. According to Tambuwal, the money meant for these fiscal years has been moved away from public projects, leaving the budgets unactualized.

"Where is the Money?"

In the footage, Tambuwal is seen questioning the whereabouts of the funds appropriated between 2023 and 2025. He stated explicitly that these resources are being stockpiled to influence the electorate in future contests. "I’m a Senator and honestly, all the budgets we did in 2023, 2024, 2025 have not been actualised," Tambuwal said. "Where is the money? It has been diverted, so they can buy votes." The Senator did not offer documentation or specific line items to support the allegation of diversion.

Political Realignment and Defection

The timing of these claims coincides with Tambuwal's recent high-profile exit from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Now a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Tambuwal appears to be positioning himself as a vocal critic of the current administration’s fiscal transparency. His defection is part of a broader wave of political realignments as major players begin to set the stage for the 2027 general elections.
