The Acworth community is mourning the loss of Jordan Alexander Jones, a Lawrenceville resident described by family as a man who couldn't stand by when he saw something wrong. In the early hours of Saturday, March 7, 2026, Jones was working security at the Saddle Bar when he observed a man and a woman engaged in a physical altercation in the parking lot. According to witness statements and a press release from the Acworth Police Department, Jones intervened by placing the male suspect in a "bear hug" to separate the parties. After successfully breaking up the fight and stepping away, Jones was tragically shot in the back.

Suspect Apprehended Following Foot Pursuit

Acworth Police officers arrived at the scene at approximately 2:42 a.m. and discovered Jones suffering from a critical gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by officers, Cobb County Fire, and Metro EMS, Jones later died at Kennestone Hospital. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Daniel Di Vonne Parsons of Douglasville, was located a short time later fleeing on foot near Baker Road. Parsons was taken into custody without further incident and has since been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and aggravated murder. He is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
