Fatal Ballistic Strike on the Nizhyn Community
The northern city of Nizhyn became the site of a deadly kinetic engagement early Saturday morning when Russian forces deployed a combination of ballistic missiles and Geran attack drones. Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that the strike claimed the lives of two men, aged 30 and 60. The high-velocity impact of the ballistic munition caused extensive localized destruction, resulting in the hospitalization of a 54-year-old man with severe shrapnel wounds and causing injuries to an elderly woman. Emergency crews were dispatched to the site to manage the fires and structural damage caused by the primary explosion and subsequent drone detonations.
Geran Drones Devastate Residential Zones in Horodnia
The Horodnia community faced a concentrated wave of Geran drones that specifically targeted densely populated residential areas, leading to widespread displacement and property loss. According to the regional administration, dozens of private houses were damaged or rendered uninhabitable as the loitering munitions struck domestic infrastructure throughout the night. At least five civilians were reported injured in this sector alone, as residents were caught in their homes during the late-night barrage. The use of these drones in such numbers suggests a deliberate effort to saturate local defenses and inflict maximum damage on civilian housing stocks.
Direct Impact on Medical Facilities and Infrastructure
A critical component of the regional healthcare system was targeted in Semenivka, where a drone strike caused significant damage to a local hospital. The attack successfully hit the medical facility and its central boiler house, a move that threatens to disrupt essential heating and sterilization services for the community. While no fatalities were immediately reported at the hospital site, the destruction of the boiler house poses a long-term challenge for the facility’s operational capacity. This strike aligns with a broader pattern of infrastructure degradation that has increasingly targeted utility and medical hubs across the Chernihiv province.
