Rochester Resident Facing Felony Weapons Charges Following Attempted Armed Burglary and Foot Pursuit

Early Morning Confrontation at Cascade Street Residence
A standard Monday morning was interrupted by a violent encounter in Northwest Rochester. According to the Rochester Police Department, officers received a report at approximately 6 a.m. on March 9 regarding an attempted break-in on the 1000 block of Cascade Street Northwest. The resident of the home identified the suspect as Abdulkadir Mohamed, a person known to them. The witness alleged that during the attempted entry, Mohamed brandished a firearm, escalating the incident to an armed assault.
Police Spot Suspect and Initiate Foot Pursuit
Law enforcement spent the morning searching for the suspect based on the description provided at the scene. Later that afternoon, patrol officers spotted Mohamed in the vicinity of the 200 block of North Broadway. Upon realizing he had been identified by police, Mohamed fled the area on foot. After a brief pursuit through the downtown sector, officers successfully intercepted and detained him without further incident.
Felony Charges and Firearm Ineligibility
Following his arrest, Mohamed was transported to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center. He currently faces several high-level felony charges, including second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Additionally, investigators determined that Mohamed was legally prohibited from carrying a weapon, resulting in a charge of possession of a firearm while ineligible.
