A Nightmare Discovery in Oklahoma City
An Oklahoma City family is recovering from a harrowing security breach after a father discovered a stranger sleeping in his child’s bed. On Saturday, March 14, Josh Hodnik was awakened by his 11-year-old son, who reported that an unknown man was lying beside him. Hodnik initially suspected his son was imagining things or sleepwalking, but upon investigating the bedroom, he found a grown man tucked under a blanket he had brought into the house himself. The intruder, later identified as Charles Bradford, was reportedly wearing only one sock and no shoes when he was confronted by the homeowner.
Security Lapse and Immediate Arrest
The incident occurred after the family’s children had been playing outside the previous evening. Hodnik admitted to authorities that he failed to check the front door locks before going to sleep, allowing the intruder easy access to the residence. Following the discovery, Hodnik contacted the Oklahoma City Police Department, and Bradford was taken into custody without further violence. The 46-year-old suspect has been charged with first-degree burglary and five additional misdemeanors. He is currently being held at the Cleveland County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
Suspect’s Violent Criminal History Revealed
Following the arrest, local news reports uncovered Bradford’s extensive and violent criminal background. Most notably, Bradford was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in 2002 after killing his cellmate while serving time in prison. His record also includes at least 12 other violent offenses, ranging from assault on law enforcement officers to attacks on medical staff and multiple larceny charges. The revelation of his past has sparked intense frustration from the victim’s family, who questioned why a repeat offender with such a volatile history was not incarcerated.
