Watercare has issued a precautionary boil water notice for 7,500 households in Hillsborough, Mt Roskill, Royal Oak, and Three Kings after E. coli detection.

Critical Safety Instructions for Residents
Affected residents must use boiled tap water or store-bought bottled water for the following activities:
Consumption: Drinking, making ice, and preparing food or infant formula.
Hygiene: Cleaning teeth and washing dishes.
Method: Watercare states that boiling water in an electric kettle is sufficient to kill bacteria. The water only needs to be boiled once and should be allowed to cool before use.
