Quick Arrest in East Busway Shooting Incident

Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) police announced the arrest of 18-year-old Michael Andrews on Monday following a violent weekend incident in the Homewood neighborhood. According to investigators, Andrews is responsible for a shooting that took place inside a P1 bus near Homewood Station at approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday. The rapid identification and capture of the suspect were attributed to the combined efforts of detectives, patrol officers, and tips from the local community.

Victim Status and Criminal Charges Filed

The victim, identified as a juvenile, was initially rushed to a local hospital in critical condition following the gunfire. Medical staff have since reported that the victim's status has been upgraded to stable. Andrews now faces a litany of serious legal counts, including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and carrying a firearm without a license. Additionally, he has been charged with being a person not to possess firearms, suggesting a prior legal status that prohibited his access to weaponry. Andrews is currently being held at the Allegheny County Jail pending a preliminary hearing set for March 24.

High Winds Cause Property Damage in Penn Hills

While law enforcement handled criminal matters, emergency crews in Penn Hills responded to reports of storm-related damage on Poketa Road. Intense wind gusts on Monday morning caused a large tree to collapse onto a residential structure. The impact resulted in a shattered front window and significant damage to the home's gutter system. Fortunately, residents were not harmed during the incident, and no injuries were reported to local emergency services.
