The Arrest and Vigilante Violence

Jefferson Lewis was apprehended late Thursday night at the Charles Creek town camp. Reports indicate that Lewis was found by local residents who allegedly beat him unconscious before police arrived.

Medical Transfer: Due to the severity of his injuries and the volatile atmosphere in Alice Springs, Lewis has been transported under heavy police guard to a hospital in Darwin for his own safety.

Legal Status: While Lewis is in custody, formal charges have yet to be laid, though Commissioner Martin Dole anticipates announcements in the coming days.
