Traffic Dispute Escalates into Violent Vehicular Burglary

A routine afternoon in Orlando turned into a chaotic scene of violence on February 23 when a simple traffic gesture allegedly triggered a disproportionate physical response. According to police reports, the confrontation began after a pregnant motorist used her horn to signal Shaffer-Brockwell, who had reportedly been operating her vehicle in an erratic manner. The situation moved from verbal hostility to physical aggression when the suspect allegedly jumped onto the victim's car and forced open the driver's side door, an act classified by investigators as burglary of a conveyance with assault.

Assault on Vulnerable Victims Captured by Witnesses

The victim, an expectant mother whose identity has remained confidential for her protection, reported to 911 dispatchers that she was physically struck while trapped inside her own vehicle. Law enforcement officials noted that the suspect allegedly used profanity-laced threats before initiating the battery. The violence further expanded when a 68-year-old woman stopped her vehicle to intervene and assist the victim, only to be met with physical force herself. Shaffer-Brockwell reportedly ordered the elderly bystander to return to her car before striking her, leading to a specialized charge of battery on a person 65 years of age or older.

Violent Resistance During Law Enforcement Apprehension

When Orlando Police Department officers arrived to restore order and take the suspect into custody, the level of aggression reportedly shifted toward the responding personnel. Body-camera footage reviewed by investigators shows the suspect actively resisting being placed in handcuffs. During the struggle to restrain her, Shaffer-Brockwell allegedly bit one of the responding officers, leading to an additional charge of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer. The footage captures the officer's vocal commands for the suspect to stop the biting as they worked to secure her.
