Rapid Response in Maradun

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully intervened during a violent raid in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Wednesday. Security units from the 1 Brigade, stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Maradun, deployed to Kofa Kyarawa village at approximately 10:30 am. The mobilization was triggered by urgent intelligence reports indicating that suspected terrorists had invaded the community and were actively destroying property.

Arson and Community Displacement

Upon the arrival of the military units, it was observed that several residential buildings had been set ablaze by the assailants. The arson attack created a state of panic, forcing a significant number of villagers to abandon their homes and seek refuge in neighboring areas. The swift arrival of the 1 Brigade hindered the attackers' ability to further escalate the destruction, although several structures were already severely damaged by the time the perimeter was secured.

Apprehension and Asset Recovery

During the tactical sweep of the village and its immediate outskirts, the troops successfully apprehended four suspects believed to be directly involved in the incursion. In addition to the arrests, security forces recovered 13 motorcycles. These vehicles are suspected to be the primary means of transport used by the criminal elements to conduct rapid, high-impact raids on rural communities across the state.
