Midnight Invasion at Oke-Ijebu Facility

In the early hours of Saturday, March 28, 2026, a Primary Health Centre in the Oke-Ijebu area of Akure became the target of a coordinated armed robbery. According to a statement released by the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the attack occurred at approximately 2:00 am. Three suspects, armed with a pump-action rifle and cutlasses, reportedly gained entry to the medical facility by scaling the perimeter fence. The suspects arrived in an unregistered black Toyota Venza, which they strategically parked along the main road to facilitate a quick escape.

Assault and Abduction of Health Workers

During the raid, the assailants confronted three health workers who were on night duty. The staff members were forcefully dispossessed of their mobile phones and a Point of Sale (POS) terminal used for facility transactions. Following the robbery, the suspects forced the victims into their vehicle and drove toward the Olokuta axis along Ondo Road. Preliminary investigations by the police revealed a disturbing escalation: the suspects ordered the victims to strip and subsequently abandoned them in a remote bush area before fleeing the scene.

Rescue and Joint Security Response

The ordeal for the abandoned health workers ended when they managed to find refuge with staff from the nearby Olokuta Correctional Service. Following a distress call, a joint security team—including operatives from the police and the Ondo State Security Network (Amotekun Corps)—responded to the area. Amotekun Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed that all abducted personnel were safely recovered and have since been taken to a medical facility for treatment and trauma counseling. The prompt intervention of the correctional facility staff was credited with preventing further harm to the victims.
