Men of the Ondo State Police Command have announced the successful rescue of a kidnap victim in the Isua Akoko region. The victim had reportedly gone to the Ipesi Akoko area for cattle rearing activities but failed to return, prompting an immediate investigation by local authorities. According to a statement released on Tuesday, the rescue was the result of a coordinated operation driven by intelligence gathered shortly after the disappearance.
Victim's Resistance Leads to Suspect's Capture
The victim provided crucial information to the police after his rescue, detailing how he was accosted by a gang of three individuals under the cover of night. During the abduction, the victim attempted to defend himself and managed to inflict a significant head injury on one of his captors. This detail proved pivotal for the Isua division operatives as they began their search for the perpetrators in the surrounding communities.
Apprehension at Obasanjo Motor Park
Acting on the victim’s testimony and additional credible leads, police mobilized at approximately 6:09 am to storm the Obasanjo Motor Park in Isua. At the location, officers identified and apprehended a suspicious individual who bore a fresh head wound consistent with the victim’s account. During subsequent interrogation, the individual confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping and was later positively identified by the rescued herdsman.
